This is my first pregnancy post and I’m so happy to share with you my pregnancy must have products. I’m 30 weeks pregnant today and so far it’s been great! For those of you asking about the gender – we don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl as we decided to wait till the very end! I’m so excited! (Edited – it’s a boy). 🙂
I am so lucky to say that my pregnancy has been pretty mild so far, nothing to complaint about. A little bit of nausea during first trimester, occasional heartburn (I got it real bad for 3 days when all I could eat was steamed cauliflower), fatigue (still going on), leg cramps, dizziness, of course the cravings! Lately all I have been thinking about is fries, cake, brownies and ice cream!
Anyways, here is a list of things that have helped me a lot through this journey and I hope it will help you too. During the first trimester I was reading every blog and every article I could find for best tips to deal with my symptoms and hope this article will help you understand what to expect.
What I’m eating:
Green juice – green juices are so great for you – especially cold pressed right in front of you. Green juice is the highway to fiber, lots of nutrients and vitamins that are essential for optimal health. I always recommend having at least 1 green vegetable juice a day and now during pregnancy it’s another reason to stay healthy!
Kind Bars – these are definitely not the healthiest kind but it works for me when I want a treat that still has some nutrients. I also carry these with me on weekends in case I get hungry and need a little snack.
Steel water bottle – drinking enough water is crucial during pregnancy. I typically drink between 3-4 liters of water a day. Yes, it’s a lot of bathroom breaks but water is really important when growing a human. I never leave my house without bottle and always make sure I refill it will cold filtered water.
What I’m wearing:
Waist Extender – these helped me a lot during the first 5 months when I could still fit into my pants. They are adjustable in size and will help you transition from your normal clothes to maternity.
Comfy bra – ever since I got pregnant I have been living in these. They are super comfortable, stretchy and great for sleeping. Yes, you heard me right – I sleep in them too! An absolute must!
Pink Blush Maternity – their dresses have been lifesavers for me. Super comfortable, affordable and look great. Definitely my favorite choice of clothing brand during pregnancy.
What I’m reading:
Hypnobirthing – as you all know I am all about holistic health and more natural approach and hypnobirthing is definitely something that I have been interested in. It’s all about staying calm, relaxed, comfortable without much stress and pain during the delivery. If you are interested in natural birth with possibly no medication – this is a great book.
The Happiest Baby on the Block – every parent must read! You will start to understand why babies cry, it will explain how to sooth them, prevent colic and how to put them to sleep. A must read for moms and dads!
Products I’m using:
Tums – these were my best friends during first trimester and right now are coming back during my third. I carry these in my purse because even drinking water can give me really bad heartburn.
Prenatal – you should always contact your doctor before taking any supplements but for me these have been great. I take them before lunch every day and haven’t experienced any indigestion or discomfort.
Diffuser and essential oils – I use lavender oil every night before bed and have been sleeping much better since. Lavender is known for calming and relaxing so before bed is the perfect time. Lemon is known as disinfectant and stress reliever, however peppermint is great for reducing anxiety and pain.
Shea butter – I have been using it twice a day on my stomach, breasts, thighs and butt and haven’t gotten a single stretch mark yet. This shea butter is very creamy and will stay on all day. If there is one thing you MUST have – it’s this cream!
Epsom Salt – during my first trimester when it was still cold winter I would take warm baths with lots of epsom salt for relaxing my muscles and improve skin. Now that it’s really hot and my feet get swollen I fill half bath with cold water and add 2 cups of epsom salt. I try to do this a couple times a week and it works wonders! I always feel much more relaxed after and sleep like a baby.
