Wondering what`s in season this October?
In New York area October is the big pumpkin month. Everything turns orange and brown and all you can see is pumpkin spices lattes everywhere you go. October also happens to be my favorite month because of the fresh and cool mornings, turning leaves, the city slowly starting to get more quiet, leisurely walks through Central Park are just a few to mention. Oh, and pumpkin soup following an apple pie? YUM!
As the weather gets colder, I always recommend my clients listening to their body and follow the season. In winter months our bodies require more grounding and warming foods like soups and stews, they also happen to be more filling and fattier which is what our bodies need to stay warm in the cold. Our bodies naturally require more sleep, more relaxation and slowing down otherwise very often we catch a cold or even a flu.
Swop your morning iced coffee for warm tea, have a soup instead of a salad and try out a spa or sauna in your area. Here are some of my favorite fall recipes to try out this October:
- Quinoa Crust Vegetable Quiche
- Stuffed Sweet Potato Boats
- Spiced Pears with Walnuts Topped with Raw Cashew Cream
- Vegan Apple Spice Cake
